Nestled in the heart of the Georgian Dublin, O’Connell House is the ideal venue for meetings, staff training and courses, book launches, exhibitions and conferences. We have a broad range of facilities to suit your needs. Please note that individual room capacities can vary in accordance with layout and it is advisable to speak with us directly about your specific needs so that we can tailor the room to meet your needs.
The Reception Rooms
The O’Connell Room is situated on the ground floor of the house. This room has been restored to a very high standard and boasts two magnificent Georgian windows. The room also houses an outstanding Seamus Heaney collection and original images of Richard Brinsley Sheridan, W.B. Yeats and Samuel Beckett. It is especially suited for smaller meetings of up to 6 people but can also be used as a reception room for up to 20 people.
Our main Reception Rooms are ideal for larger gatherings and are situated on the 1st floor of the House. The adjoining rooms are separated by folding doors. Combined, the room comfortably fits 50 diners, 100 people standing and 80 people seated in conference layout.
The Library is available for groups of up to 20 people. Situated at the very top of O’Connell House it is a tranquil space for training workshops and seminars.
Our services include tele-conferencing and webcasting, wi-fi access, wheelchair access on ground floor only, audio visual facilities, blackout facilities, administration support, dedicated event coordinator, exhibition space, restricted parking, cloakroom, historical tour of the House. Caterers can be chosen from a recommended list of approved firms, supply and setup of audio visual equipment is available throughout the House and is included in the room hire. Other AV supplies can be sourced at additional cost. Technician is also available on request. Photographic services include group photography and special event photography for coverage of events such as book launches.
Directions to O’Connell House from Airport
O’Connell House is within easy reach of the airport and is only 16 kilometres by Aircoach. To get FROM the airport TO O’Connell House (58 Merrion Square South) – Walk through the arrivals terminal following signs for the EXIT to car parks and AIRCOACH. You need to look for blue and orange signs for the AIRCOACH (blue shuttle bus). This is located just outside Arrivals Hall to the left as you exit the building. MAKE SURE YOU GET THE BUS THAT IS GOING TO: Airport to Ballsbridge. Tickets can be purchased from the driver.
Coming from the Airport please disembard at the Kildare Street Stop.
Going to Dublin Airport please go to the Dawson Street Stop.

O’Connell House is located on the Merrion Square South. Cross the street so you are walking alongside the park. Continue up the street, passing the National Gallery of Ireland on your right hand side. When you reach the end of the park take a left and walk down street until you reach No. 58 – O’Connell House. To gain entry, press the top buzzer button on the right hand side of the door. Please note that our hours of operation are from 9 to 5 weekdays and are extended as necessary to meet the needs of our clients.
